I'm not sure how to pronounce that. Is the emphasis on the 2nd syllable, or primarily on the 1st and secondarily on the 3rd? Whichever, it is something I just found out today is this month. And I've already missed the first day.
So I'm jumping in a bit late here. You might want to get some coffee. Life hasn't been terribly interesting lately.
I've been knitting fairly steadily on a sweater for hubby. I wanted it to be a surprise, and maybe win me back a little of the credibility I lost on the sweater I started for him 10 years ago and have admitted I may never finish. I asked him to try on another sweater I made for him, just so I could remember what it looked like. (and measure it later so I know what size to make the new one) He did. It's oversized, but that's OK. The temperature here can vary as much as 60 degrees over the course of a day, so a sweater that fits over something else makes sense. It measured 48" around, so that's what I planned for, cast on, and knitted the body up to where I guessed the arms should be.
It seemed bigger than a sweater ought to be, but hey, it's what I measured.
Yesterday I cast on the first sleeve, and got a couple of inches up the ribbing. When I tried it on myself, it gaped around my wrist. Now I know my wrists aren't that much smaller than hubby's, so I broke down and had him try on the body. It's huge. There's no way it will look good on him.
Today I cast on the bottom ribbing again, with about 4" less around. And I went down another needle size for the ribbing, too. The crinkly, unravelled yarn I re-skeined, and it's hanging in the bathroom relaxing for a few days before I use it again.
At least the design of the sweater will be a surprise to him. If I finish it.
